Neuroradiology
Our neuroradiologists diagnose and care for patients with diseases, abnormalities or injuries of the spine, neck and head. Using advanced neuroimaging technology, including X-ray, MRI, CT and angiography, neuroradiologists are the first step in determining your treatment plan.
Advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Our interventional neuroradiologists perform minimally invasive procedures, including the endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations, and carotid and vertebrobasilar stenosis.
In addition, Northwestern Medicine neuroradiologists perform spine interventions, percutaneous and non-vascular procedures including:
- Painful lesions of the bony structures
- Percutaneous treatment of vertebral compression fractures (vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty)
- Disk nucleoplasty and IDET (intradiscal electrothermal annuloplasty), a minimally invasive treatment for chronic low back pain
- Epidural and selective nerve root injections
