Symptoms of Ankylosing Spondylitis

Symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) typically occur in people before age 40, although they may occur and disappear over periods of time. The most common symptom of AS is gradual onset of pain in the back and large joints. The pain may worsen at night or improve temporarily with exercise. Each individual may experience symptoms differently.
