Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery
Northwestern Medicine has a state-of-the-art femtosecond laser (Catalys laser, Optimedica, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA). This laser permits cataract removal with precision and using a bladeless approach.
In addition, the femto laser can correct astigmatism and be used in conjunction with specialized artificial lenses (Restor, Tecnis, Crystalens, Toric). Collectively, these measures provide clear vision and significantly minimize the need for eyeglasses following cataract surgery.
