As part of the health system's commitment to creating healthier communities, Northwestern Medicine is the title sponsor and health care partner for the 2017 Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium and Block Party.

The event – which involves male and female racers from across the world – will be held on Saturday, July 22 near the Village Green in downtown Lake Bluff. The Block Party aspect of the event is coordinated by the Friends of Lake Bluff Parks to raise money for local infrastructure needs, such as updated stairs and restrooms at a local park.

“We are thrilled to bring this premier event to our community for the sixth year, and to invite our neighbors to join us for family fun and world-class cycling,” says Thomas J. McAfee, president, Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital. "Bicycling is a fun sport that suits all ages. We hope this event inspires community residents to be active and live a healthy lifestyle."

The bicycle race will take place from 8:45 am – 8:30 pm. The Block Party is scheduled for 4 pm and continues into the evening. Local restaurants will provide a Taste of Lake Bluff on the Green and local musicians will perform in the Gazebo during the Block Party.
