Information Regarding Street Closures During Marathon

Sunday’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon will impact street traffic throughout the city, including the area around Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Street closures* will begin at 7 a.m. on race day. North and southbound Lake Shore Drive will remain open. For those needing to access Northwestern Memorial during the marathon from the North Side, exit Lake Shore Drive at Michigan Avenue and drive south to Chicago Avenue. If you are traveling from the South Side, exit Lake Shore Drive at Chicago Avenue to Fairbanks.

The race will begin at 7:20 a.m. with the wheelchair start followed by the open start at 7:30 a.m.  It is anticipated that the first finishers will cross the finish line at 9:30 am with the majority completing the race by 12:30 p.m. The finish line will close at 3 p.m. For more information about the course and street closures, visit the marathon website.*
