Just in Time for Spring, CICCHETTI Unveils Brunch April 12

CICCHETTI new brunch foodCICCHETTI (chick-KET-tee), the new Italian eatery located at Erie and St. Clair Streets, is rolling out a new weekend brunch menu on April 12. Helmed by Chicago chef Michael Sheerin, a Food & Wine Best New Chef in 2010 and a veteran of New York’s Jean-Georges and wd-50 and Chicago’s Blackbird and Trencherman, CICCHETTI features small plates with a Venetian accent—a twist now being applied to brunch.

“Everyone is in for a real treat with CICCHETTI’s take on weekend brunch,” says legendary Chicago restaurateur Dan Rosenthal, owner and co-creator of CICCHETTI/Sopraffina Marketcaffè.* "In the five months since we opened our doors, the reception has been amazing. We are conveniently located next to Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile in heart of Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. And, Chef Sheerin continues to exceed expectations.”

Developed by Sheerin and his team, each of the new brunch dishes makes special interpretation of Italian classics. The menu includes dishes like Poached Eggs Rialto prepared with house made English muffins, seared porchetta, poached eggs and chorizo mornay, as well as Fried Chicken Mercato, crispy fried boneless chicken thighs with house ground polenta and salsa verde.

“With this brunch program, we’re trying to continue the exploration of Italian ingredients and flavors, but in our own way,” says Sheerin. “We also always want to present something that’s true to the Midwest with a real local focus.”

CICCHETTI and sister restaurant Sopraffina Marketcaffè opened side-by-side within a rustic 9,200 square-foot corner lot on the campus of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Opened for just over five months, the space’s design beckons cafes of the cobblestone streets of Venice, right in the heart of Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. CICCHETTI/Sopraffina is Chicago’s first new construction restaurant to receive Green Seal certification, a highly sought-after designation from the nation’s premier environmental certification organization.
