The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce presented Northwestern Medicine with not just one, but two awards at the 96th Annual Charlemagne Awards Dinner.

Northwestern Medicine Pediatric Outpatient Rehabilitation at Delnor Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care St. Charles each received a 2017 Community Development Award. The award honors new construction or an extensive remodeling or renovation project that represents a significant investment in the business community.

The new Pediatric Outpatient Rehabilitation clinic offers physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy for children of all ages, from newborns to young adults. The 3,000 square foot clinic, located on the lower level of the 302 medical office building at Delnor Hospital, was built specifically for children and features colorful pediatric equipment, child-sized amenities, aquatic artwork and vibrant lighting.

“I am grateful to work for an organization that recognizes the need for quality rehab services in the western suburbs,” said Lauren Wallenius, SLP, manager of pediatric rehabilitation services at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital. “We are all proud and honored to be recognized by the St. Charles Chamber and look forward to enhancing the lives of local children and their families.”

Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care St. Charles was built in 1994 and was due for a renovation because the existing configuration could no longer meet the needs of patients, staff and ever changing technology. The over $1.5 million renovation included; waiting registration, expanded nurse/doctors station, Trauma Room, x-ray, staff areas and three additional exam rooms.

Wallenius and Ann Barreca, a representative from the architecture firm Partners in Design, accepted the awards at the Charlemagne Awards Dinner on February 2. Over 250 prominent local business leaders attended the prestigious event.
