Two Northwestern Medicine nursing leaders will receive prestigious honors at an annual statewide award ceremony for their commitment to and excellence in healthcare.
Michelle Janney, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, senior vice president and Wood-Prince Family Chief Nurse Executive at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, won the Joan L. Shaver Illinois Outstanding Nurse Leader Award. Each year this award is given to a nurse leader who is influential in shaping quality healthcare in Illinois.
"Michelle is a true trailblazer," says Maureen Slade, MS, RN, PMHCNS-BC, NE-BC, vice president, Operations, and associate chief nurse executive at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. "She is able to envision innovative ways of improving patient care in ways that few people are able to do. She demands excellence in herself and those around her because she is committed to driving to the highest quality of patient care."
In addition to Janney's honor, Slade was selected to receive the Pinnacle Nurse Leader award, which is given to one extraordinary nurse leader from each participating organization for recognition at the event.
Janney and Slade will receive their awards Nov. 6 at the 17th Annual Power of Nursing Leadership ceremony in Chicago, sponsored by the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing. The Directors of Nursing at Northwestern Memorial Hospital will be in attendance.
