The Benefits of Meditation with Margaret Crowley, PsyD

Breathe.

It sounds so simple, right? Meditation has been shown to help with chronic pain, reduce depression and increase focus. For those interested, how can one start and then sustain a meditation practice?

On April 29, Margaret Crowley, PsyD, will present “Mindful Moments in Meditation,” as part of “LivingWell: A 360 Approach to Health and Happiness” at Northwestern Memorial Hospital

“I hope those attending the conference walk away feeling empowered,” said Crowley, a health psychologist with the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Northwestern University. “I would like people to know there are specific things they can do to impact their mental and physical health. I’d like people to walk away being interested enough in meditation to give it a whirl. Even to be mindful for just a few breaths a day is great progress.”

The wellness-fair style event, sponsored by Northwestern Medicine’s Alberto Culver Health Learning Center, features breakout sessions and an opportunity to talk to a range of healthcare professionals, like Crowley. The event runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. April 29. Admission is $10.
