Eight New Members Join Board of Directors

LAKE FOREST, IL – A total of eight new members began their terms at the annual meeting of the Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital (LFH) Board of Directors on Jan. 31. They are Dr. John Andrews of Green Oaks, Thomas Bernardin of Lake Forest, Catherine Brune of Lake Forest, Willard Hunter of Lake Bluff, Ronald Labrum of Libertyville, Charlie Mills of Lake Forest, Laura Skinner of Lake Bluff, and Alexander Stuart of Lake Forest.
Andrews, a general surgeon who also specializes in colorectal surgery, joins the board as the new president of the Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital medical staff of which he’s been a member since 1992. Bernardin is chairman and CEO of Leo Burnett Worldwide and is involved with United Way, Mental Illness Research Association and the Sara Fisher Home for Underprivileged Children. Brune is senior VP/CIO at Allstate Insurance Company and is active in United Way, Urban League, Chicago Junior Achievement and YWCA. Hunter is president/CEO of Prime Graphics in Wood Dale, Ill., and is involved with Open Lands and the “I Have a Dream” Foundation in North Chicago. Labrum is chairman and CEO of the Healthcare Supply Chain Services Division of Cardinal Health and is also on the board of Health Insights Foundation as well as several health-care companies. Mills is CEO of Medline Industries based in Mundelein, Ill.
Skinner is the incoming vice president of the Board of the Women’s Auxiliary of Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital and is active in the Lake Bluff school district PTO. Stuart is president of North Star Investments based in Lake Forest and is a Lake Forest Country Day School trustee, a Ragdale Foundation director and a director of WBEZ-FM in Chicago.
Meanwhile, six members of the Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital Board of Directors retired on Jan. 31. They are Dr. Michael Ankin, Vice Chairman Joseph Damico, Nancy Donovan, Thomas Hunter III, Joanne Miller and Mark Miller.
New Health & Fitness Centers Board Members Seated Too
Also on Jan. 31, three new members began their terms on the hospital’s affiliated Lake Forest and Lindenhurst Health & Fitness Centers Board of Directors. They are Shirley Christian, executive director of the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Lisa Giles, president and founder of Giles & Associates Consultancy based in Lake Forest; and Thomas Juedes of Lake Forest, who provides business development and turnaround consulting in the service and logistics business.
Meanwhile, two Health & Fitness Centers board members – Dave Decker and Roger Mohr – retired effective Jan. 31.
