Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Takes Proactive Approach to Deadly Cancer

Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital February 23, 2010

Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of death in our country, yet it is 80 percent curable when detected early. Because the cancer often shows no symptoms until an advanced stage, individuals need to take charge in the fight against this deadly disease.

LAKE FOREST, IL – Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is recognizing Colorectal Awareness Month by sponsoring events that educate local residents on how to be prepared. Gastroenterology nurses will provide information packets for patients and consumers and distribute free ColoCare kits which test for indications of the disease. “Polyp Man” will be on site to promo the awareness month, and all visitors will be eligible for a raffle.
