Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Doubles Capacity at Extended Care Facility

LAKE FOREST, IL – As part of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital’s continued efforts to meet the healthcare needs of the community, the hospital has doubled the size of its Extended Care Facility (ECF) from 20 beds to 40 beds. Along with the added beds will come more staff with experience caring for long-term patients, as well as an increased focus on rehabilitation services and patient needs.
“The expansion of the Extended Care Facility will give more Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital patients the opportunity to receive their care within the community, rather than being transferred to other facilities,” said NLFH Chief Nurse Executive Kim Nagy. “Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is constantly taking measures to ensure that local residents have the best possible care at their doorstep.”
The Medicare-certified facility, located on the first floor of the NLFH’s Westmoreland Nursing Center, provides a valuable option for patients who do not need acute hospital services, but require a higher level of care before transitioning to a residential setting.
