Cash donation will assist HealthReach efforts to provide care to thousands of uninsured area residents
LAKE FOREST, IL –Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is taking on a greater role with HealthReach Incorporated, an organization that is instrumental in providing healthcare for thousands of uninsured and underinsured Lake County residents. The hospital announced that it will make an initial cash donation of $50,000 and subsequent donations as they are needed.
“HealthReach is invaluable to Lake County,” said Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital President Thomas J. McAfee. “We are pleased to provide ground-level support to an organization that has a direct impact on the Lake County residents who are in the greatest need of healthcare.”
Last year, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital supported hundreds of HealthReach patients by providing nearly $200,000 in pro-bono laboratory services and diagnostic imagining. The hospital will continue providing these services in addition to the new cash-based support.
“All of us at HealthReach are extremely delighted that Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is making such a generous investment in our mission to provide medical care for the uninsured low income residents of our community,” said James C. Zimmer, Executive Director of HealthReach. “We look forward to our continued partnership with them as we continue to increase access to quality healthcare for our neighbors most in need.”
HealthReach operates clinics in Waukegan and Mundelein. According to the Lake County Health Department, Lake County has 113,000 medically uninsured residents. Another 60,000 residents are considered medically underinsured.
