Northwestern Memorial Honored for Leadership in Quality Improvement

CHICAGO, IL – Northwestern Memorial Hospital was among five U.S. hospitals recognized for their leadership and innovation in quality improvement and safety by the American Hospital Association (AHA) this month. The American Hospital Association-McKesson Quest for Quality Prize® is a prestigious award presented to hospitals who demonstrate an organizational commitment to and progress in achieving the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) six quality aims for healthcare. One of the goals of the award is to honor organizations that are making progress in quality improvement and that offer models that can be replicated by other hospitals.
Northwestern Memorial was among an elite group of finalists for the 2011 Quest for Quality Prize® and was praised by the AHA for its commitment to healthcare performance, quality and safety. The hospital also has a publicly available Quality Report Card, which allows patients to see how Northwestern Memorial measures up to national healthcare quality comparisons.
The Quest for Quality Prize is presented annually by a multi-disciplinary committee of healthcare quality and patient safety experts and is supported by a grant from the McKesson Corporation.
