LAKE FOREST, IL – Students pursuing healthcare-related professions are encouraged to apply for this year’s A.B. Dick, Jr. Health Careers Scholarships, awarded annually by the Scholarship Committee of the Women’s Board of Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital. Most winners receive between $500 and $1500 that can be applied toward tuition, fees, books or on-campus room and board.
For the second year, the Helen Dick Bronson scholarship will be given to an outstanding employee of Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital who works directly with patients and is continuing his or her education. The Scholarship Committee will ask those in consideration for this scholarship to participate in an interview. The recipient will receive between $2000 and $3500.
As in previous years, one exceptionally promising student will be awarded the Marion Warner Hodgkins Scholarship, worth $5000. The Scholarship Committee will also ask those in consideration for this scholarship to participate in an interview. Occasionally, two students win the top award. In that case, each receives $2500.
Applications are available here. Completed applications will be accepted until March 11. Winners will be notified in mid-May.
To be eligible for an A.B. Dick, Jr. Scholarship, students must be residents of locations served by Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, or must be employees or family members of employees of the hospital. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students having completed one year in a school of nursing or two years of school with a declared major in a healthcare field. Candidates will be evaluated based on financial need, academic performance, career intentions, references and affiliation with Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital.
