Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute Expands to Northwestern Grayslake

The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute cardiologists bring the expertise of the best Heart Program in Illinois, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report in its 2013-2014 “Best Hospitals” Report. The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the best Heart Program in the Chicago metro region and in all of Illinois for the sixth straight year. It is ranked as the 12th best program in the nation out of 720 cardiac programs and is the highest ranked cardiac program among those in Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri and Iowa.

“An extensive array of diagnostic heart tests is available at Northwestern Medicine Grayslake Outpatient Center, including cardiac CT scan and MRI, chest X-ray, echocardiogram, electrocardiogram and heart monitoring, among others. Our goal is to use the latest research and technology to help patients improve and maintain their heart health.”
Dr. Cohen is the medical director of cardiology for Northwestern Lake Forest and an assistant professor in cardiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His specialties include valvular heart disease, preventive cardiology and coronary artery interventions. Cohen received his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1986. He completed an internship and residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Case Western University. He completed a fellowship in cardiology and interventional cardiology from the University of Chicago, where he was the recipient of the Leon Resnekov Award for Excellence in Cardiology. He is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions. He is published in peer-reviewed journals on cardiology.

Dr. Benge has practiced cardiology for 32 years and is also an assistant professor of cardiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
He received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 1974 and completed an internship and residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He completed a fellowship in cardiology from the University of Iowa College of Medicine and a fellowship in cardiology and cardiovascular research from the University of California.

Dr. Wu is board certified in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology and specializes in non-invasive cardiac imaging. He is an associate professor of medicine and radiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
He received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School in 1996. He completed an internship, residency and fellowship in cardiology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and has been in practice for 10 years. He is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Heart Association and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiologists. He has been published more than 20 times in major journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of American Medical Association, Lancet and Heart.
