Effective Health Coaching Strategies Discussed at Integrative Medicine Conference
October 21, 2013
This increasingly popular partnership is one of the topics at the International Congress for Clinicians in Complementary and Integrative Medicine, in Chicago from October 29 to 31. Hosted jointly by Northwestern Medicine® in partnership with the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, the inaugural event is expected to attract more than 250 clinicians and trainees to discuss topics like health coaching, empowering patients to make and sustain behavioral changes and integrative approaches to conditions like chronic pain, fatigue and depression.
“As integrative medicine practitioners gather in Chicago, health coaching will be part of the discussion of ways to help our clients achieve their wellness goals,” said Melinda Ring, MD, medical director of Northwestern Medicine Integrative Medicine. “The coaching process is collaborative. Both the coach and the person seeking coaching are equals on this team. Health coaching is a way to help everyone achieve their highest potential.”
As more and more people seek out integrative approaches like health coaching, credentialed members of the media are invited to the conference to learn more about complementary approaches and integrative medicine.
