Northwestern Medicine Opens New Immediate Care Center and Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group Office in Deerfield
Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Deerfield April 22, 2013
CHICAGO, IL – “We are excited to expand access to Northwestern Medicine’s care to our patients in the northern suburbs through the new Deerfield Immediate Care Center and physician offices,” said Daniel Derman, MD, vice president, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and president, Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group (NMPG). “The Deerfield center offers a comprehensive set of services with primary and specialty care by NMPG physicians and the treatment of minor emergencies at the Immediate Care Center.”
The new Deerfield center offers internal medicine, gynecology, and dermatology in the NMPG physician office. This physician office replaces former NMPG offices in Northbrook with a larger, updated physician suite in a more visible and convenient location for patients. The new NMPG physician office includes on-site gynecology procedures and has a separate specially-designed dermatology suite, with an aesthetician to be added this summer.
Physicians at the Deerfield office include:
• Rebecca Cummins, MD, dermatology
• Jennifer Friedman, MD, gynecology
• Cori Levinson, MD, internal medicine
• Evan Lu, MD, internal medicine
• Richard Miller, MD, internal medicine
• Susan Shaw, MD, gynecology
• Melinda Simon, MD, dermatology
“Our physician group is pleased to move to our new and larger office in Deerfield,” said Richard Miller, MD, north region medical director for Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group and a member of the medical staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. “Our patients can expect our continued commitment to top quality healthcare in a larger and more convenient setting for them.”
The Deerfield Immediate Care Center is staffed by licensed physicians and emergency medical technicians who are trained to evaluate and treat a variety of medical conditions in both adults and pediatric patients (over the age of 6 weeks). Radiology services are also available 7 days a week. All patients are seen by a physician, providing patients the opportunity to be treated by a physician during the hours that their regular primary care physician’s office is closed.
The center is open from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. seven days a week and requires no appointment to be seen. Some of the more common conditions treated at Immediate Care include: flu, fever, and colds; sinus infections and urinary tract infections; strains and sprains; poison ivy, animal and bug bites; and rashes and sunburns. Major injuries and traumas should always be directed to full-service emergency rooms. Free parking is available at the center.
The Deerfield Immediate Care Center and physician offices are part of Northwestern’s expansion of clinical care in the northern suburbs. The Deerfield center is one of seven new Northwestern Medicine clinics, in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, Evanston, Glenview, Highland Park, Libertyville, and Grayslake, Illinois.
