Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital's Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center Re-Certified

WINFIELD, IL – Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital's (CDH) Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center has been re-certified by The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. CDH, the only advanced comprehensive stroke center in Chicago's western suburbs, was first awarded certification in 2012.
"This re-certification demonstrates the strong commitment by CDH physicians, nurses and staff to providing high quality stroke care to our patients," said Brian Lemon, President, Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital.
Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification recognizes hospitals that meet standards to treat the most complex stroke cases. CDH stroke patients have 24/7 access to:
- Comprehensive stroke team that includes neurologists, interventional neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-intensivists, neuro-rehabilitation specialists, nurses, therapists, case managers and social workers
- Advanced imaging capabilities and treatment options
- Specially trained multidisciplinary team to coordinate individualized post-hospital care and goals for each patient
In addition to providing high quality stroke care, CDH participates in a variety of clinical trials to study new treatments and therapies for stroke patients. Since 2013, CDH has completed five trials, and is currently participating in seven active trials, with several more scheduled for open enrollment in the coming months.
