DEKALB, IL – On Feb. 4, 2016 the Joint Center at Kishwakee Hospital, now part of Northwestern Medicine, welcomed a physician and team from the Hospital for Joint Replacement Coxa, Tampere, Finland,* to discuss best practices and latest evidence in joint replacement surgery. Kishwaukee Hospital’s Joint Center has attracted attention from national and international audiences of medical providers in the field of joint replacement surgery. The Joint Center at Kishwaukee Hospital has achieved “Premiere Site” status through Stryker Performance Solutions* due to its significant achievements in performance improvement, safety, quality, and patient satisfaction. It is due to these positive trends and through Stryker that the leadership team made the visit to DeKalb from Finland.

 

Orthopedic Surgeon Rajeev Jain, MD, medical director at Kishwaukee Hospital’s Joint Center and Jyrki Nieminen, MD, medical director at Coxa, discussed all facets of care including pre-operative education, acute management, and follow-up care. The two shared a sincere concern to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient and keeping the patient at the center of the joint replacement process. Dr. Nieminen and his team expressed gratitude for the welcome and information that they received during their visit. Dr. Nieminen said, “Kishwaukee Hospital should be proud of their excellent joint replacement program outcomes and we are looking forward to bringing some of these approaches back to Finland.”
