How prepared you felt for your baby's discharge

This question measures how well the hospital prepared the parents of a newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for discharge. The possible answers are: Very good, good, fair, poor and very poor.

When infants leave the hospital, parents may need to continue a treatment or recovery plan at home. Therefore it is important that staff provide clear instructions to the patient and the patient’s parents on how to properly follow the treatment plan at home. Better scores may indicate that a hospital provides a higher level of patient care.

About this measure

This measure tracks the percentage of parents whose babies stayed at the hospital in the Neonatal ICU who reported their comfort level leaving the hospital after their babies’ discharge was "very good".

Note: In this measure, a higher number is better.
