Death from any cause within 30 days of hospitalization for heart failure
Heart failure (HF) is a progressive, chronic illness that can reduce life expectancy. A lower rate of death from HF may indicate that a hospital provides a higher level of patient care.
About this measure
Mortality rate is a measure of the number of people who die within a period of time. The HF mortality rate below is the percent of patients with HF who died within 30 days of admission to the hospital, regardless of whether the patient died while still in the hospital or after discharge. The rate includes patients who died from any cause.
In this case, a lower number is better.
