Northwestern Medicine offers coordinated inpatient and outpatient care to help you overcome emotional and mental health issues, substance abuse and addiction so you can lead a productive, healthy life. Specialized services include:

Norman and Ida Stone Institute of Psychiatry

The Norman and Ida Stone Institute of Psychiatry opened in the heart of the medical campus in September 2011. It provides a contemporary approach to psychiatric care in the hospital setting. A healing environment, evidence-based psychotherapy, specialty pharmacology and neuromodulation support our goal to accelerate recovery and prepare our patients to transition back into the community. We are the first inpatient psychiatric care unit in the country to incorporate behavioral activation into the care setting.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern Memorial Hospital offers comprehensive consultation, diagnosis and treatment of a full range of adult and older adult mental health disorders. At Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, compassionate caregivers offer patients and their families healing through counseling, education, support groups and pastoral care. We also have a chapel in the hospital for private worship. Members of our pastoral care staff are available to assist or counsel you, whatever your religious tradition.

In addition to providing emotional and spiritual support in times of illness or health challenges, Lake Forest Hospital offers treatment for short- or longer-term emotional issues, such as depression. Mental health specialists at Lake Forest Hospital understand the effects of depression and can help you cope with emotional challenges.
