What to Expect at Your Appointments

At your appointments, you'll meet with both our OB doctors (to help care for you and your baby during pregnancy) and our infectious disease doctors (who help manage HIV while in pregnancy and after).

The services include:

  • Pre-conception counseling appointments to discuss options for becoming pregnant
  • Complete obstetrical care for pregnant women living with HIV
  • Evaluation and treatment with infectious disease providers to customize HIV treatment in pregnancy
  • Opportunities to participate in research studies related to pregnancy, newborns and beyond to help scientists better understand HIV

You will also meet with our mental health team who may help with insurance issues, attaining medications, food programs (LINK and WIC), and community referrals to case management or mental health resources. The mental health team may offer emotional support or a mental health referral for concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, adjustment to HIV diagnosis, disclosure of your HIV status, or postpartum mood changes.

We also have pharmacists on staff to assist with questions regarding your medications and adjusting to changes in medications.
