At Northwestern Medicine, our patient’s feedback is important to us. While different care providers have their own unique strengths, we strive to be as transparent as possible with our quality of care.
Dr Brenner takes his time. He listens to my concerns. He explains things well and asks me if I have more questions. He encouraged me contact him at any time with concerns on my chart. My previous doctor gave me test results through my chart in the form of a letter so that I could not contact him with questions and said, “I have no recommendations for you”. That is why I came to Dr Brenner. Huge difference. I am very pleased.
He did his homework by collaborating with Dr. Shapiro in advance, which I very much appreciated. He was friendly, relatable and showed genuine concern for my symptoms. He took the time to listen and answer all of my questions, even though the appointments were running late. I would 100% recommend him for any complex GI cases.
I have MS, and Dr Brenner is the first GI doctor I've seen who understands the impact that MS has on my digestive tract and who offered suggestions to alleviate some of the discomfort I experience. He didn't offer to cure all of it, which of course he can't, but he addressed the neurological aspects of my ibs. My MS doctor, Balabanov, also at Northwestern, either has never heard of him or has disregarded him. I don't necessarily blame Dr. Balabanov because all hospitals are like this, but where is the multi-disciplinary treatment that patients like me require to remain functional, and that I came upon through my own research? Is anyone going to pay attention to this because I have a lot more to say about treating MS patients.
He takes his time with each patient and doesn't suggest anything without a solid reason of why he thinks it would be beneficial. He's always up to date on the medical world, and he's willing to try things the patient brings up based on their own research.
I cannot cure my problem for several months. A month and a half ago, I made an appointment for a gastroscopy for today (October 28) and it takes 2 hours only one way from my apartments. I don't have a car, I only increase the risk of contracting the virus. A month and a half ago, I chose this place because I was told by NW nurse that the next record in downtown is only for December. That's why I agreed to make an appointment so far from my apartments. Today, when I came to the doctor, it turned out that I was simply assigned to another doctor, who also confirmed that I need to do a gastroscopy (which I was signed up for!) and they offered me next appointment in downtown at the end of December! This is a mockery, what's the point of two different doctors for me to put the same diagnosis?I have persistent stomach pains that just get worse. I have already been to emergency and various doctors (since July). These waitings just worsen my current condition and in doing so, I pay crazy and unfair bills with no result.
I saw Dr. Brenner several years ago and now again in the last few days. I felt that he and he and his staff gave me excellent guidance and have planned out the next exams I should undergo. These are scheduled and I plan to follow his findings and guidance.
Honestly, everyone was great. The guy at the check-in desk was super friendly. Before meeting with Dr. Brenner, I spoke to a woman who said she is a fellow (I can't remember her name) and she was amazing! She made me feel comfortable, asked tons of questions to understand my issues, and clearly listened and followed up to get more information.
I have seen many GI doctors with no success in resolving my GI issues. Dr. Brenner has made all the difference in diagnosing and treating my chronic conditions. Best GI doctor I've ever had and his expertise in pelvic floor dysfunction is so valuable!
Dr. Brenner was familiar with my genetic disease, comorbidities and my current health challenges. He took time to listen to each of my concerns and address them completely. I felt as if Dr. Brenner and I were having a team meeting on my health and care, as opposed to a doctor talking down to me, as I've experienced with other doctors. I am thrilled to have finally found a gastroent like Dr. Brenner!
I sent Dr. Brenner a lot of paperwork on my symptoms that I have had for a year now and he took the time out to read all that information before I came to see him. He already had a game plan and discussed with me what his thoughts were and if this didn't work he laid out a plan for further testing on what else could be causing my symptoms. Dr. Brenner spent the time needed to explain everything to me and he also answered all my questions that I have had for a year. Dr. Brenner is very easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable talking to him. Just by one visit with DR. Brenner I feel he will figure out why I cant move forward after having HPYLORI. Wonderful Doctor
Dr. Brenner took the time out to read all the symptoms I have for the last year to help me move forward after having HPYLORI. Dr. Brenner and his staff are very knowledgable and very easy to talk to. Communication thru that whole office is superb. Everyone was so kind, friendly and very helpful.
He is always attentive and candid. He's ready to think inside or outside the box depending on what the patient needs. I had been seeing him for a couple of years when I moved away for grad school, but we still kept on contract via my chart. Now that I'm back in the area, he's back to trying to figure out new ways to help me and see what's going on with my crazy, unconventional gi system.
Dr. Brenner on our first meeting displayed superior medical knowledge, and genuine concern about my ongoing gastric issues. Also, the staff was professional and caring. Dr. Brenner is an outstanding member of the NM faculty. My sincere thanks for his dedication and commitment to the wellbeing of his patients.
I asked a security person in front of 259 garage that was blocked how to get in and without looking up and not taking his eyes ofc his cell phone told me around the corner.Getting into the garage was not easy but paying $32 to park is terrible.I had no idea what to do getting of elevator and no employee is very nice when asked directions .
Dr Brener , a very friendly, Professional, understanding, Doctor! He explained things thoroughly, so my Husband & I understood. He is also working with my Gastrologist,(I don't leave near) . He ordered tests that was necessary! For my condition .I will be returning for his care
I was very impressed with his ability to understand what I was going through and had a game plan for us to test what what the issue might be. He has a great personality and is enthusiastic about his specialty. I've been hesitant to talk about the problems I've been having and he put me at ease as we reviewed the symptoms the possible issues, testing options, and possible treatments once a diagnosis has been made. I greatly appreciate his insight & going through the process to determine the diagnosis.
Dr. Brenner was very kind, informative, and took the time to listen and answer any questions thoroughly. Truly treats your individual problems rather than giving you a generalized diagnosis. Definitely would recommend seing this doctor.
Dr. Brenner is fabulous. I've loved him since I first saw him a number of years ago. He's extremely smart, highly personable and passionate about diagnosing and treating the problem. I'm a complex patient, and he's been so kind and hugely accommodating when I needed certain tests done in a limited time period. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Dr. Brennan is one of the most knowledgeable individuals i met in my life. Not to mention his timely and professional manner. I ran private medical practice and to me Dr. Brennan is an example of how I want some of my doctors to be.
Dr Brenner was so friendly. He explained everything so I was clear on what he thought might be wrong and what tests I need and how tests would impact my care. My only issue is I waited for an hour to see him- not in the waiting room but in the exam room.
He was a real doctor, most doctors don't care anymore about health and he went above and beyond to show me how much he cared about my pain. He's like a scientist super impressed! I have 23 diseases and I'm so happy that the most important doctor I need I finally have. !!!!
I have been to plenty of physicians in my life time. I also have friends who are doctors and I know that the care providers provide can very based on their personality. With that said, I can not express how great my first experience was with Dr. Breener. He was kind, patient, explained everything in such a respectful manner and allowed me the time to answer any questions I had. It is very personal to discuss certain things with a Dr. that you have never met, and Dr. Breener made me feel comfortable and safe to talk about any issues I had. He provided excellent care and I would recommend him without the slightest reservations!
Dr. Brenner is outstanding. He is genuinely concerned, thoughtful, and very dedicated to patient education. He is extremely patient and did not rush me through the appointment. He is also very respectful and collaborative.
I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about doing a video appointment. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the appointment went. Dr. Brenner was easy to talk to and was knowledgeable about my past medical records. He had obviously made a great effort to know about my past medical issues. I very much appreciate this.
I had contacted Dr. Brenner's office by way of mychart a few months ago. He responded very quickly and offered a good solution which worked. When I spoke with him by way of a video link yesterday, he was very personable and made some recommendations on what the next steps would be and I thought that made sense.
Dr Brenner is one of the best doctors I've ever seen. .He is exceptional in his knowledge, his kindness and his empathy. .He's very easy to get in touch with, always willing to help, explains things very well and answers all my questions. .I wish all doctors could be like me!.Excellent doctor!.I would recommend him to anyone!
