At Northwestern Medicine, our patient’s feedback is important to us. While different care providers have their own unique strengths, we strive to be as transparent as possible with our quality of care.
My physician was unhelpful. Rather than asking question to try and help me find a solution to my problems, he told me there was nothing he could do and \you better think of other things to talk about while you're here\". When discussing medications I was taking there was no discussion of root causes for potential solutions."

Had high recommendations. Visit started rough as all my tests were not available to him and I was trying to find copies for him. My anxiety level was high yet he made me feel good and dealt with my concerns"answered my questions.
Everything you should expect of a doctor and then some. Dr K was very present and attentive. Listened to me, asked the proper questions, explained very thoughtfully and thoroughly a procedure I'd asked about...went on to recommend a medication he believed would help me. Couldn't have been a better experience. All doctors are professionals by definition, but Dr K seems to take that to a higher level. He scheduled me for a further evaluation of my issue, quickly and efficiently. I left feeling satisfied and felt that I even learned something in the process. Thanks.
I sent pages of test results weeks ahead of time. He never even looked at them. Seemed bothered by my being there. I have a hiatal hernia, gerd , pain, choking on food, stomach goes into esophagus & has to be manipulated down & Barrett's. Dr Wakade for 7 months. No fix just more tests. Dr. Douglas Lee/ appt. August 3rd. Liver test. Said this group was who I needed to see. Dr. Kahrilas said surgery is marginal. Not always a fix. Changed pantoprazole to omeprazole and we were finished. An absolute waste of my time, and obviously from the look on his face, his. If you are the best there is, heaven help us all.
Dr Kahrilas was very personable and efficient. He took time to explain my chronic esophagitus and Barrets syndrome and the chances of this becoming esophageal cancer. He changed my medication and explained why I needed to be on a proton pump inhibitor. I look forward to seeing him again in one year for a follow-up visit and endoscopy.
I believe he is an excellent gastroenterologist. He had been involved in much research and appears to have a breadth of knowledge and experience. He has always been an excellent listener and I feel I have had very good care from him.
He is so knowledgeable that he can squeeze a little jocularity in than switch back to case in point quickly. He knows exactly what is needed, makes himself clear, then BOOM!! We will call you. . Perfect
Dr. Kahrilas is professional, friendly, and straightforward. I have very specific reflux medication needs and Dr. Kahrilas always steps up when pharmacies or insurance are resistant about renewing prescriptions or providing coverage.
He listens, really listens. Dr. Kahrilas is an exceptional doctor who has a decisive plan for my care. I realized that even after he read my reports, he was really listening to me with my impressions and concerns. Dr. Kahrilas made me feel confident in his objectives of my health plan as well as he really cares about my health.
Dr. Kahrilas was personable, patient, extremely knowledgeable, and appropriately conservative in his approach to management. Appreciate not being recommended for an endoscopy when I really don't need one.
