She is clearly an expert in her field. She is caring and takes a lot of time to really listen to me. I feel much stronger when I leave her office because I know that she understands me and my concerns about my health. She addresses every problem which arises and endeavors to find a solution or puts me in touch with another doctor who might help. She has that remarkable combination of intelligence and compassion. i am so lucky to have such a fine doctor!

Dr. Gerard is hands the most knowledgeable doctor I’ve ever worked with. I can be open and honest with her about everything, and she sets realistic expectations and is very empathetic. Since starting my treatment with her for epilepsy 7 years ago I haven’t had any seizures, and all other symptoms have almost completely subsided. I trust her with my life and am so thankful to have found her! Because of her I can live a life not defined by my neurological disorder and know that I have best-in-class care should I ever need anything.

Dr. Gerard listens to what you have to report regarding the patient and recommends possible solutions. Seizures are a very serious problem and I feel my daughter, the patient, is getting the best care possible, which lessens the fear of a seizure occurring. I feel very confident and comfortable with my daughter in her care.

Dr Gerard has been my doctor for I think 15 years. She is the nicest, caring Doctor I have ever had. She thinks outside the box and listens to what I have to say and is concerned for me personally...not just as a name or patient number. I am very lucky to be included as one of her patients.

External Professional Relationships

Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
