At Northwestern Medicine, our patient’s feedback is important to us. While different care providers have their own unique strengths, we strive to be as transparent as possible with our quality of care.
He appears very skilled and knowledgeable but I really encourage him to take more time with his patients. He was in my room for a total of 8 minutes (I was there 3 hrs) and appeared rushed the whole time.
Excellent care by a professional staff. Also, in my 74 years I have never received a better post procedure checklist. This may seem small but to receive very specific instructions (I had three procedures performed) that are tailored to my case has been invaluable.
I liked the doctor. I was impressed with his obvious skill with his field and equipment. I was a little frightened at first (like a kid) by his full-scale personal protection equipment, but he communicates through the masks just fine. His friendliness was very welcome, and if I needed such surgery again, I would hope to have him perform it.
I have little experience to compare with, but my observations were all positive. I was treated kindly and kept informed of what was happening before, during, and after my surgery. Great care was taken to be sure all cancer cells were removed, and the closing of the wound was done with great care. My instructions for what to do and to avoid during this week following were very clear.
Dr. Yoo is very expert in his field. Nonetheless, I was perturbed that whereas Dr. Yoo was carefully protected with full PPE and personal filter, the nurse, who was near me the whole time, had only a mask. Also, the fellow and residents were not as well protected. Why is that the case? The nurse, I believe her name is Amy, was very helpful to me. I believe the nurses should always be encouraged to introduce themselves with their last name and title (e.g. Nurse Smith) to accord respect and proper pay for their work.
Seemed very knowledgeable but I was rushed through my appointment. It would be nice to have the chance to sit down with a dermatologist and talk about skin concerns and skin health, and how to take care of it.
Dr. Yoo has lots of experience performing this procedure and took the time to explain what he was doing when I asked. I haven't seen the results of his handiwork, so I cannot unequivocally recommend him to others just yet.
I thought Dr Simon Yoo was absolutely great. I felt very confident in his knowledge & experience. He has a wonderful personality & manner. The entire staff were amazing. The procedure was performed in such an experienced diligent manner,.. thus it was less painful than imagined.
Dr.Yoo is wonderful as are the nurses, etc. Dr. Marks does not act as quickly as I think he should with basal cell carcinomas. The basal cell carcinoma that was removed this week was there over a year ago. He prefers to use cryosurgery which doesn't leave a scar. Otherwise I would have rated the above question as a 10.
Dr Yoo was recommended by my derma, Dr Jill Anderson. I had confidence going in but due to the location of my surgery I was worried about scarring. He was very direct and communicated in a way that reassured me.
Dr. Yoo is just fantastic..the surgery was painless. Apparently I have had this cancer for some time now, and obviously should have addressed it sooner. When I saw how much tissue was removed from my face, I was scared. I couldn't comprehend how it could possibly be stitched back up. Dr. Yoo was able to do it. I am amazed at his skill, and consider myself very fortunate to have had him as my surgeon!!
Skin cancer is not the easiest thing to treat, expunge or even forestall in some people. Dr. Yoo's skills as a surgeon are matched by a compassionate approach and a knowledge"experience based wisdom that keep us going after some challenging surgeries. I feel most fortunate to have him as my surgeon.
Dr. Yoo was presented with what I considered a difficult MOHS surgery. He was patient, professional and reassuring. I have a few weeks of recovery ahead but based on past experiences with Dr. Yoo, I believe he is a master at taking severely sun damaged areas to health. I feel most grateful to have been referred to Dr, Yoo many years ago.
Professional, courteous, and concerned for my comfort. The Nurse, Patricia, was instrumental for advising me about what to expect and put me at ease right from the beginning. Dr. Yoo was very nice, informative and I have a high regard for him and his staff.
Dr. Yoo is a very good physician who explains procedures well. He and his nurses are very kind and I appreciate the aftercare supplies and instructions they provide. A well-run office where appointments are on time.
I know Dr. Yoo is very capable, but there is very little communication with him. I also know he is very busy, but a few words of greeting and/or assurance would go along way to making the patient feel more comfortable. I wanted to thank him and realized he had walked out of the room within a second of finishing the procedure..Victoria was absolutely fantastic - she made me feel less nervous, took time to talk to me and showed compassion and caring.
I feel very comfortable and confident with Dr. Yoo taking care of my medical needs. I am so glad he is one of my providers. He is straightforward, explains everything in detail and is truly concerned about your health.
I feel very comfortable with him. He is very direct in his conversation. I read some reviews that he is too abrupt. He doesn't have to hold my hand I have had other melanoma's. I know the drill. He does what he needs to do and is on to the next person. I like him and he does great work.
I felt so comfortable with Dr Yoo and his entire staff. He was personable and talked to me during the entire Mohs surgery (I am sure to distract me). He was quick, but answered all my questions. I would return in a heart beat!
Dr. Yoo did a very thorough job caring for me, making sure what he was faced with before doing the procedure. While it took some extra time after an initial visit, and I wasn't happy about that at first, the NW team worked to find a good solution to speed the whole process up, and Dr. Yoo was excellent while doing the procedure. Friendly, relaxed and conversational. He helped me feel calm and it was over in minutes. Thank you, and I'd definitely return to him and recommend him to others.
He is obviously very skilled, calm and you leave there knowing your Basel cells have been removed. His office RN Bass was very helpful in securing me an appointment when scheduling failed to return my cars until she intervened.
I have been a patient of Dr. Yoo for several years, since about the time he first started working at Northwestern. He is just about perfect in what he does. I would give him very high scores in technique, knowledge, compassion, friendliness, and just about any other category that might be relevant.
Dr. was low key, very professional and made me feel very much at ease with his procedure. The nurse and resident who were in the room assisting the doctor were really very nice and spent time explaining to me what was done and the healing process. I was very impressed with the whole experience.
Great bed-side manner.Explained Mohs procedure .during a very long day..My basal cell carcinoma (one tumor) was quiet large 8 x 6 centimeters . Dr Yoo's calming .explanation soothed this very nervous patient.
Dr. Yoo, was so professional, timely and compassionate. From the moment I arrived everyone did a great job with safety precautions. I was a bit concerned prior to the procedure but his nurse (wish I remembered her name) provided reassurance and quality care prepping me prior to the procedure. The only thing, they were suppose to send me home with a sling but forgot...I Hope this level of quality care and compassion spreads throughout the hospital and remains post COVID.
