Northwestern Medicine proudly opened its new Lake Forest Hospital in March of 2018. This state-of-the-art facility continues a long-standing commitment to deliver world-class medicine to the region, while using its natural surroundings to create a healing, tranquil environment for our patients, visitors and staff. The hospital features all private inpatient rooms, advanced technology and increased privacy for patients and visitors. It is part of a redeveloped campus that provides access to primary, specialty and emergency care, as well as a seamless pathway to specialty care from throughout the Northwestern Medicine network. This includes access to leading-edge clinical trials through Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, an integration that also fosters an environment of world-class patient care, academic inquiry and innovative research.

- Language interpreters: Interpreter services and an AT&T language line are available for non-English speaking patients. To help ensure a smooth hospital stay, please tell your doctor and in advance about your language needs. Respect for cultural practices and beliefs and adherence to a strict code of ethics, which includes the patient’s right to privacy and confidentiality, are upheld at all times.
- Resources for the hearing impaired: If you or a loved one has a hearing impairment, Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD), CapTel phone for a listen/view option and telephone amplifiers are all available. Contact the Communications department for more information. Closed-captioned television programming and video cassettes or DVD players are also available, depending on your hospital location.

Located on the Lower Level and accessible from the main lobby.You’ll find traditional comfort food, pizzas and entrées baked in a hearth oven, fresh salads and sandwiches, breakfast and many other unique offerings.- Monday through Friday: 7 am–7 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 7 am–3 pm

Packaged vending options are available in the waiting area of the Emergency Department.
Healing art
Lake Forest Hospital houses hundreds of pieces of dynamic art that emphasize tranquility and healing. The collection features both local and international artists, and includes photography, paintings and hand-crafted glass, metal and wood.
Visitor boardwalk and walking paths
The exterior boardwalk runs along the east side of the hospital and curves around the reflecting pond and waterfall. The boardwalk is perfect for waiting, walking or relaxing.
The hospital campus supports health, wellness and community enjoyment, with 7,000 feet of walking and biking paths, hundreds of newly planted trees and serene views of nature. The map below shows where the various tree species are planted on our redesigned campus.
Visitors play an important role in helping patients recover. To maintain a healing environment and enable patients to rest, however, we ask that family and friends honor the following hours and guidelines for visits.
Each patient will be informed of his/her visitation rights. Patients may withdraw or deny consent to calls and visitors at any time. Visitors are not restricted, limited or otherwise denied visitation privileges based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, Vietnam or other veteran status or any other status protected by relevant law.
Visiting hours
General visiting hours: 5:30 am–9:00 pm
All visitors are asked to check in at the concierge desk in the lobby to obtain an identification wristband.
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult other than the patient.
A maximum of two visitors per patient are allowed at one time.
Please review the following exceptions to our general visitor guidelines:
- Maternity services: Spouses or other designated special guests have open visiting hours. Visiting hours for grandparents, siblings of the newborn(s) and all other visitors are 8:00 am–8:30 pm daily. Other visitors must be 12 years of age or older and are encouraged to visit between 10 am–8 pm daily.
- Pediatrics: Parents have open visiting hours. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Intensive Cardiac-Care Unit (ICCU): Family members have open visiting hours.

Lake Forest Hospital Chapel
Located in the southeast corner of Pavilion F and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Chapel provides space for prayer, reflection and meditation. All people and all faith traditions are welcome. Spiritual items such as sacred texts, prayer rugs, rosaries and prayer books are available.
