Depression is a common illness, but it is different from normal sadness or bereavement. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression will soon be the number two cause of disability worldwide. Depression affects not only the mind and brain, but the entire body as well as the individual’s family, friends and work colleagues. In this webcast, Joan Anzia, MD, will discuss the symptoms, predisposing risk factors and treatments, including medications, neuromodulation and psychotherapies, that have been shown to be effective.
