5.0 star star star star starDr. Tanner is an excellent communicator who has played an active role in my care since the moment that I received my cancer diagnosis. He recommended the diagnostic tests that I needed to identify my condition and he recommended the most suitable approach to take for my care. He performed my surgery which went extremely well. He has also monitored my progress related to the administration of chemo treatments which are contributing to a positive outcome. I am in good hands. Dr. Tanner is very patient and accessible during our office consultations. I am truly on the road to having a full recovery. I would definitely recommend Dr. Tanner to my friends, family and others seeking care or second opinions concerning a gynecological oncology issue.

5.0 star star star star starUpon learning from my Primary Care Physician(PCP) late on a Friday afternoon/evening that an abdominal CT scan (which I had just had an hour before his call) showed a large malignant tumor on my left ovary, I was referred by him to Dr. Tanner. I was told to call Dr. Tanner on Monday morning to let him know of my condition and set up an appointment. I, of course, felt very frightened and wary, and anxiously waited to be able to get things in motion. I was waiting for his office to open Monday so I could call to make an appointment, but before they even opened, Dr. Tanner called me and explained that he had seen my CT scan, and asked if I would be agreeable to his scheduling/reserving an Operating Room right away (to ensure we could schedule surgery as soon as possible) as the surgery would likely require a good deal of time. He was so proactive, he had already checked the schedule, so had a date and time to give me at that moment, and he explained what he planned to do. He also told me he could see my husband and I the following Monday for our first appointment, and would then fully explain how he planned to proceed. We met with him that next Monday, and were in the office for 1-1/2 hours, of which most of the time was spent with him, as he explained everything, told us of the possible outcomes of the surgery, what things it might or might not involve, and what steps needed to be taken before surgery. He was so patient with all of our questions, never rushed us. I was very grateful and impressed by his patience and reassurance at that time, and am even much more impressed now that I have had ample opportunity to see how busy he and his team are. The surgery was long and complex, and Dr. Tanner and his surgical team did an amazing job. They have been with me every step of the way, are always available, and very compassionate and understanding. I have felt so blessed/fortunate to continue to have them at our sides. From the moment I first spoke with him, everything was about us as a team in this fight. His complete and thoroughly informed explanations- even before we met- were the most reassurance anyone could ever hope for in such a situation. He is an amazing physician, surgeon and person.

5.0 star star star star starWhat’s not to like. He doesn’t make you feel like he is rushing off to the next patient. His explanations are clear. He makes sure you understand before moving in to the next topic. His demeanor is calm and reassuring. I felt his assessment of my condition was honest.

5.0 star star star star starI am not a medical professional much less a surgeon. So I lack the background to rate any surgeon on competence. Regardless, it is difficult not to be impressed by a surgeon (or a team of surgeons) who can remove a large cyst (14x11x10cm) with 4 small (less than 1 inch) incisions in my abdomen. And even more impressive that the major pain from that procedure had abated within 7 days. And also impressive that all incisions are healing nicely to the point where I wonder if they will even be noticeable after a few months. Well done! And again, many thanks.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Tanner took his time to explain everything to me, from the diagnosis to the treatment. There was no rushing through this visit. He made me feel as if I were his only patient that day. I left his office knowing everything I needed.

4.0 star star star star star_borderIt is difficult for me to rate Dr. Tanner himself because I have met him only twice. The first time I met him was for a 10 or 15 minute pre-op conference in his office about 4 weeks before surgery. The second time I met him was in the OR about for about 1 minute or so (before my anesthesia was administered). As to the office visit and communications with his office before surgery, Dr. Tanner and his staff did a very good job of helping me understand the potential problems, the alternatives, and the possible outcomes. They all seemed very sensitive to the emotional upheaval that words like cancer can invoke. As to the minute or so before surgery, there was not much time to say much of anything. Again I felt like I was in good hands. Post-surgery, I was very pleased to see the report from the surgery in MyChart within a few hours after my surgery was completed. I am fortunate that my cyst was not cancerous. The incisions made during surgery are what Dr. Tanner's office told me to expect them to be. My wounds seem to be healing well. I certainly had pain, especially the first couple of days after surgery and especially when I used my abdominal muscles (e.g., going from standing to sitting, from sitting to lying down, turning in bed at night). But by day 3 after surgery there was a noticeable decrease in pain. The pain now (day 5 after surgery) is far less though still there. So, at least at this point, it appears that the healing process is proceeding. It is difficult to complain about the results from my symptoms at this point.
