0.0 star_border star_border star_border star_border star_borderWas pretty dismissive of my condition. Seems odd to go in for foot pain to never have the doctor even ask me to take off my shoes to look at the foot… And to be told that the doctor won’t see lab results for another week despite the results being in is horrible. I’m in pain. Have been for the week leading up to the appointment and will be the week after?? That’s just great service…. Do I necessarily blame Dr. Carraro the delay/wait? No. That’s a systemic issue that NM has and needs to be addressed.

1.0 star star_border star_border star_border star_borderI remember Dr. Carraro being friendly and easy to talk to two years ago. I know that doctors have been through a lot in the last couple of years so maybe her patience has worn thin and I know I was 5 min late to check in. She seemed annoyed from the start and basically was like "why are you here?" - which was confusing to me since I thought I was there for a physical exam. I was rather disappointed to make such a time and expense effort come all the way from the city to see her to find out that they had scheduled the wrong type of appointment and her bedside manner was a bit off-putting. I will not make the effort to see this doctor again.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Carraro does a great job listening and seems to truly care about addressing the issue. Honestly it's the basic stuff that makes all of the difference and that hasn't been my experience with other doctors.

5.0 star star star star starShe is great. She called on time. She answered all my questions and directed me to the CDC site if I wanted to study it more. She encouraged me not to be hesitant to contact the office if I had more questions. She is very understandable in her instructions. I trust her knowledge and feel comfortable talking to her. She has been my general DR for a few years and I hope she stays in Chicago

2.0 star star star_border star_border star_borderI felt like she was dismissive to what I tried to explain and as if she didn’t believe what I was sharing. She was in and out, almost like no hello or goodbye and i understand the rush but I was already reluctant to go in and see someone about my issue and with my previous doctor it didn’t feel this way. I’ll be looking for a new doctor since I’m moving to a different side of town anyway. I did appreciate her choosing to get insight from a different doctor.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Carraro is great at explaining things clearly and I feel comfortable asking her questions. Her treatments also work effectively. She provides options and goes over potential side effects as well.

0.0 star_border star_border star_border star_border star_borderI did not find her approach understanding, compassionate or body positive. I felt her recommendations of counting calories and stepping on a scale to be dismissive and not responsive to my concerns.

3.0 star star star star_border star_borderSometime visits she is very warm and caring and other times she seems distracted, annoyed, and impatient. I fully understand that the medical profession has been through A LOT over the past few years, and I also understand that doctors are humans too. Everyone has a tough day at work sometimes, but this has happened to me more than once. When I do have a visit where Dr Carraro seems like she’s just going through the words and motions of my visit, it makes me question my own medical profile and is very discouraging.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
