5.0 star star star star starDr Abbas has great bedside manner, and is very thorough. I did not feel rushed at all, he listened to my concerns and reiterated information that I needed clarification on. I drove 1.5hrs to see Dr Abbas based on the reviews I read, and my visit with him was worth the drive.

5.0 star star star star starI’m a retired LCSW who worked a total of 40 years in two major medical centers in Chicago. Having some medical knowledge, I was impressed with how he explained my concerns & wasn’t condescending.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Abbass is, without doubt, the kindest, most thoughtful, and most understanding doctor I have ever encountered. Although being a cancer surgeon, his priority is to treat and care for the entire patient - ie the patient’s physical and mental health: both pre-op and post-op. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

5.0 star star star star starI hate going to the doctor. I have horrible anxiety that leaves me unable to eat and with a racing heart every time I have to go to the doctor. Dr. Abbass was the the most gentle and patient doctor that I've ever encountered at Northwestern. He was the first doctor I've ever had introduce himself by his first name and this simple gesture meant so much to me. It felt like I was talking to another human that wanted the best for me instead of a medical conversation. He answered my questions in a way that made me feel fully informed and never once spoke at a level that I couldn't understand. I would absolutely feel confident in recommending him and having him care for my loved ones.

5.0 star star star star starHe made me feel immediately comfortable and was happy to include my daughter remotely. He was very frank about my condition but made me feel I was not without hope. He explained the different (and unexpected) problem thoroughly.

5.0 star star star star starI feel that Dr Abbass is empathetic and listens to what I have to say. I think he's very good at treating my case specific to me and my symptoms - he recognizes each patient is different. I feel that I can be honest and talk to him about a somewhat embarrassing topic like a rectal fissure, which is not really easy to talk about.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
