Dr. Martin is in my opinion an anchor . When I am experiencing fear, confusion and vulnerability regarding diagnoses and test results, I am unmoored and out of my depths. She calmly helps me find my way either through referrals, explanations and or taking time to steer me in the right direction. When you do not know your way and read so much conflicting information online it means everything to rely on a steady, informed and conscientious physician. I was referred to her by an acquaintance who said she was great. I could not agree more. I am so grateful to have her as my doctor.

Dr. Martin was very thorough with the diagnostic and background portion of my appointment. She explained all of the symptoms, and provided a very logical and clear analysis of the issues, and then laid all the steps for moving forward. She was very personable and is clearly a dedicated professional!

Dr Martin is knowledgeable and skilled as an Hematologist. Genuinely emphatic and cares about you as a whole person. She was clear, calm, caring and very thoughtful in our discussion. She did not rush through the appointment, but actually waited for my blood results to come back to discuss the results. I know with her care we will come up with how to care for my blood disorder.

Dr. Martin saw me in a timely manner. She listened to my history, asked questions and came up with new (possible) treatment suggestions. In my experience, it is hard to find a hematologist who is interested in dealing with a long standing issue, when they have patients with far more immediate concerns. Dr. Martin took time with me and was interested in helping me find the best treatment for my issue.

Dr. Martin was professional, helpful and informative. She explained and helped me understand my condition more thoroughly. She was patient when I asked questions and answered them thoroughly. She has a good rapport with her patients, at least with me she did :-) . I felt at ease after my appointment with her.

Dr Martin took the time to explain my issues so we could understand. She outlined the risks and issues with different treatment options and helped us to select the best route forward. She gave us hope that we hadn’t had before.

She respected the fact that I know my body, my history and my needs. Answered all questions in a respectful manner and provided details. This is not all that common. She spent enough time to complete what is needed for first visit. Her explanation of next steps was exceptional. It was worth the wait to see her.

Very personable and kind, she did not rush us. She was prepared, having reviewed the chart in advance. She took time to explain possible causes for the issue. She showed a personal interest and took time to ask my husband what type of work he did before he retired

She listens. Is qualified/competent with information as all NWMH staff are, but can think beyond the standard process and answers. She is more integrated and real world practical application of medicine. Not alarmist, but serious and thoughtful. Exactly what one would hope to have in a Doctor. I feel i can lead my best life wisely because of her care and counsel.

Dr. Martin was careful to make sure I understood my condition, and what the possible futures of my condition could be. She also ordered a diagnostic exam to evaluate my current condition so appropriate plans could be made for further treatment.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
