Protect Yourself From Healthcare Scams

Recent healthcare scams involve emails or text messages that look like they came from MyChart, MyNM (Northwestern Medicine's version of MyChart), or a healthcare organization.

If you have received a suspicious message, the tips below can help you identify a scam and how to protect yourself.

How to Spot a Scam

A suspicious message may:

• Offer you a gift or something for free, like a MyChart Medicare Kit
• Ask you to click a link for payment
• Ask you to share a password
• Ask you to give your personal information

How to Protect Your Information

• Do not open links or attachments in a message you do not trust.
• Never share your MyNM password or security code. Northwestern Medicine will never ask you for it.
• Do not click on an “unsubscribe” link in a suspicious message.
• To access MyNM safely, open the MyNM app or type mynm.nm.org into your internet browser.
• If you have questions about a bill, you can find more information:
• By logging into your MyNM account and navigating to the billing section
• On the Northwestern Medicine bill payment page
• On your billing statement
