The Oncology Triage Clinic is a place where cancer patients treated at any Northwestern Medicine Cancer Network location can be evaluated for urgent medical needs.

We can evaluate and treat most conditions that are not emergencies. Some of the conditions we treat are:

  • Dehydration, constipation
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Fever, chills/shakes, cough
  • Pain evaluation and management
  • Swelling in arms or legs, shortness of breath
  • Lightheadedness, dizziness

Some of the services available through the Oncology Triage Clinic are:

  • Intravenous medications (antibiotics, pain medication, nausea medication)
  • Imaging (CT scan, X-ray, MRI, vascular ultrasound)
  • Cancer specialist consultations
  • Priority access to lab and pharmacy

How to Request an Appointment

The Oncology Triage Clinic is not a walk-in clinic. Appointments are required.

If you are experiencing medical problems, please contact your cancer clinical team by phone or MyChart. Your team will assess your symptoms and refer you to the Oncology Triage Clinic for an appointment on the same day or the next day as needed for further evaluation and management. If you are having a medical emergency, they may refer you to the closest ER or to call 911.

Location and Hours of Operation

The Oncology Triage Clinic is located within Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. The hours of operation are:

Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (last intake at 4:30 pm)
Saturday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm (last intake at 1:30 pm)
