Long COVID
Even after your body has cleared the virus that causes COVID, you may continue to have symptoms. You also may develop new health issues related to having had COVID. This condition is often called “long COVID.”Some common long COVID symptoms include:
- Fatigue/tiredness
- Brain fog and memory problems
- Headache
- Dizziness and lightheadedness
- Trouble sleeping
- Cough, shortness of breath and/or trouble exercising
- Irregular heartbeat, or fast or slow heart rate
- Blood clots in the lung or veins, or blood-clotting issues
- Anxiety and depression
- Nausea and diarrhea
- Joint pain
- New prediabetes or diabetes
- New thyroid disorder
The Northwestern Medicine Comprehensive COVID-19 Center welcomes patients who have COVID-19 symptoms more than six weeks after the beginning of their COVID-19 illness or their last positive COVID-19 test.
Long COVID patient resources
Northwestern Medicine is offering a support group for patients of the Comprehensive COVID-19 Center who are experiencing long-term symptoms of COVID-19. This support group provides a sense of community and shared understanding and aims to help individuals with long COVID-19 on their journey towards wellness.
The support group is open to patients of the Comprehensive COVID-19 Center only at this time.
