Symptoms of dysphagia include:

  • Odynophagia (pain with swallowing)
  • Regurgitation (the return of partially digested food from the stomach to the mouth or nose)
  • The feeling that food is stuck in your throat
  • Choking or coughing while eating
  • Pulmonary aspiration (the inhalation of food, liquid or vomit into the lungs)
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Heartburn
  • Fatigue
  • Weight loss
