Comprehensive Stroke Centers meet standards to treat the most complex stroke cases. This includes 24/7 access to surgical intervention that may be needed for certain types of stroke.

For a hospital to be a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, the following must be available 24/7:

• Program medical director
• Acute stroke team
• Dedicated Neuro ICU beds
• On-site neurointensivist
• Access to advanced diagnostics and testing
• Access to an advanced stroke team, including a neurointerventionist, neuroradiologist, neurologist and neurosurgeon

This designation ensures you have access to comprehensive stroke care 24/7. And, because the center is part of Northwestern Medicine, you’ll also have access to the latest treatment options, research and clinical trials.
