Symptoms of Hot Flashes

Hot flashes most commonly present as:

  • A sudden, unexpected feeling of warmth on the face and upper body
  • Flushed appearance on the skin
  • Upper body perspiration
  • Elevated heartbeat
  • Chills as the hot flash lets up

Hot flashes may vary in intensity and frequency, and their duration can vary greatly. Typically, hot flashes may persist for 7 to 10 years.
