1.0 star star_border star_border star_border star_borderWell...I never asked for a prescription refill from him, and he led with 'well, I don't know you and I don't feel comfortable prescribing your medications unless I see you in my office.'I never even asked for that. I was looking for guidance. I have a primary care provider that already fills my medication. He seemed happy that I told him it would be difficult to get to his office... Instead just sent me a bunch of psychologists, which are in the same area as him, and said it's not up to him to know whether they are covered or not with insurance. Really weird... I left that conversation feeling guilty/depressed for the medications I'm taking for weight loss for some reason, even though they are FDA approved meds that were delegated under medical professionals. Kind of made me feel like a failure because he kept saying they SHOULD work... Guess I'll try cdh and have to wait all over again.

2.0 star star star_border star_border star_borderHe was well knowledgeable about the area of study we were talking about in terms of my health and wellness, but I wasn’t a fan of when conversations were shifted. For example, he noticed that two of my toes are crossed (something I was born with) and suggested the idea of getting the pinkie toe amputated since I wasn’t using it, which isn’t true as it still is a functioning toe and pointed that out to him. Also I was uncomfortable with talk about the hyperpigmentation on my skin as he isn’t my dermatologist and didn’t want to discuss it really with him when he asked about it when he noticed it. Other than that he was quite knowledgeable and very nice and somewhat helpful. But I think what I need in the future is to see a female doctor preferably a fellow Black woman who I can talk a bit more in depth about things and feel a bit more comfortable. Especially when it comes to something sensitive like my weight and body and how I’ve viewed it over the years.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Kushner took his time getting to know my background in order to make the best recommendation for my personal situation, which I appreciate. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and did not push one solution over another. Overall, I am very satisfied.

1.0 star star_border star_border star_border star_borderThere doesn't seem to be any compassion. He just takes a patient in and goes through the appointment with the information and gets them out. Basically leaving them on their own to decide what to do without professional input.

5.0 star star star star starDr Kushner was informative and insightful. To the point and direct. As a patient this was exactly what I needed. He was truthfully optimistic at a time when I needed honest answers. I look forward to his support and treatment of my health and well-being.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
