5.0 star star star star starExcellent initial visit--he sat down, appeared relaxed, asked excellent questions and seemed truly engaged in the responses, was patient with his questions and his answers, explained clearly the reasons for his treatment recommendations. We came to Northwestern from Madison, Wisconsin, and I believe Dr. Ike added me to his schedule over his lunch hour--ie made a slot for me. Credit I believe also goes to Sue Lehrer for assisting in getting me into Dr. Ike's schedule within a short time of me calling for an appointment.

5.0 star star star star starI highly recommend Dr. Okwuosa. I respect his opinion and professional advice. He met with me in a timely manner and listened to me attentively. It is extremely difficult to get an appointment with Dr. Okwuosa but he assured me that if I needed to see him in an emergency that he would definitely find time to see me. I trust him and value his knowledge and expertise.

5.0 star star star star starMy right heart catheterization (RHC) was remarkably uncomplicated. The skill level of the physicians and surgical staff was evident from the start. My anxiety prior to the procedure was alleviated by my conversation with Dr. Jennifer Manning (who performed the RHC with Dr. Okwuosa). She explained what would happen and answered all of my questions. When in the surgery she kept me informed as to what to expect next (e.g. you'll feel a pinch, there will be some pressure). Dr. Okwuosa explained the findings after the procedure and I felt comfortable knowing that I was in good hands. I also appreciated Dr. Freed's continuing coordination of my care and follow up after this procedure and the echo cardiogram.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
