5.0 star star star star starI think I addressed this with my prior entry but will expand. Being a male, and an old one at that, I was very reluctant to consider a female doctor but gave it a shot and glad I did. Still uncomfortable at times with this but since I am being candid, it seems to be an all right situation during far more minutes than those parts of a meeting when I am a bit, or more than a bit hesitant.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Lapins is brilliant, unbelievably knowledgeable, patient, and warm. She went above and beyond to get to know my mom, her history, and her symptoms, which rendered a rare diagnosis. We are eternally grateful to her. She is a treasure.

5.0 star star star star starWe are deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with Dr. Allison Lapins with regards to my family member's treatment. We are blessed to have been assigned to working with Dr. Lapins. Dr. Lapin's care has made a remarkable and objectively significant and observable difference in my family member's positive progress since we began working with her in November 2021. The treatment recommendations she has made have had excellent results in terms of markedly decreasing his level of apathy, and of significantly improving his motivation, focus, concentration, and engagement in daily life. This is excellent progress—a reversal of the deterioration in cognitive and general life functioning from last year and prior to our working with Dr. Lapins. In addition to these factors, it significantly helped him to have PT, OT, and cognitive therapies last summer. His muscle coordination and strength increased and he improved from an average of several falls per month—which had been ongoing for approximately one year—to no falls at all since October 2021. We are grateful to work with Dr. Lapins--a world-class neurologist who specializes in FTD and who has cutting edge knowledge of the field, of treatment options, and of life-style changes that will promote improvement. We appreciate the fact that Dr. Lapins treats her patients holistically, with a focus on the total person—mind, emotions, and body—and not solely on their medical condition. In addition, Dr. Lapin's kindness, empathy and compassion, and sensitivity as human being, have been a critically important factor in my family member's progress. She is highly communicative and supportive and can always be reached per email or through her office in case of an urgent need. We also greatly appreciate the support Dr. Lapins has given us regarding family dynamics issues. Dr. Lapins is one of the most gifted physicians we have ever worked with and there are not enough words to express our gratitude to her. As a mental health professional, I know the positive impact that working with a physician who implements a humanistic, holistic approach can make on the patient's progress.

Dr Lapins gave me time to talk, question and gain understanding of the issues that required me to make this appointment. Also, Dr Lapins provided me with written information/contacts to secure treatment.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Lapins is clearly a gifted neurologist who combines exceptional medical expertise and innovative knowledge of her field, with kindness, sensitivity, compassion, and genuine dedication to the best interests of her patients and their families. Despite her outstanding academic and professional accomplishments, she is humble, unassuming, and highly approachable, and she possesses superb communication and social-emotional skills. Dr. Lapins is authentically caring and supportive. She implements a strengths-based, integrative approach which encompasses not solely patients' physical and biological dimensions, but as well, their minds and spirits, as these are inextricable components of human essence and of the human condition. These qualities are rare to find in a physician of this historical epoch. As a mental health professional, I know the importance of understanding and integrating the psychological and spiritual dimensions in a person's treatment process. Dr. Lapins exceeds my expectations in all the afore-referenced capacities. She is furthermore, very generous with her time, and she provides in-depth and comprehensive answers to questions which are posed during conferences. She is also sincerely validating of the commitment, time, and effort that caregivers dedicate to their loved ones, who are often experiencing formidable cognitive and life challenges. As a full-time caregiver and working professional, such validation is meaningful, comforting and reinforcing. Dr. Lapins is a veritable gift to the field of neurology and a blessing to the patients and family members she works with. I say BRAVA! to her, and I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with her on my family member's treatment goals and best interests.

5.0 star star star star starDue to her personalized prescription for my education in this arena of brain utilization and the program she constructed for me, I am much more confident in living day to day. She recognized the trauma I had been living in and the cost to my state of mind, and she designed a program for me that would help me overcome the results of the trauma…Her validation of my experience meant so much to me…

Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
