5.0 star star star star starDr. VanHaerents is an excellent physician who takes the time to listens to his patients and gives excellent quality of care, he has always covered all areas of medicine and makes sure that you are well provided for. He makes sure that you have a "After Visit Summary" before you leave your visit which includes all the information of your visit which is important because many times during a visit it's difficult to write down all the information given to you. I have been seeing Dr. VanHaerents for many years and I don't know what I would do without his sincere care and understanding. He has come through when other doctors where other doctors have not.

5.0 star star star star starDr. VanHaerents is kind, compassionate, and listens fully. He is very thorough and responsive, and explains things well. I was nervous to switch to a new doctor at a new hospital, but he put me at ease, and he had new ideas about my care.

5.0 star star star star starHe makes his patients feel comfortable and cared for. Also takes time to explain issues and makes sure to educate his patients. I was working remotely so I could’ve moved anywhere but a part of why I moved to Chicago was so that I could see dr VH

5.0 star star star star starDr. VanHaerent is very knowledgeable, warm and welcoming, very involved with my care, detail oriented with specifics. He is genuinely interested in helping me with my conditions and the appropriate treatment, and takes the time to listen to all of his patients and my hesitations about my treatment and is respectful. He explains things to me clearly and makes sure I have a copy of his notes before I leave which not all doctors do, it makes a big difference. He's gone out of his way to help me in every aspect of my medical needs. I couldn't ask for a better doctor.

5.0 star star star star starBoth the medical student and the doctor were very detailed in how they listened to my issue and asked me questions in depth in order to properly diagnose and come up with ways to improve my condition. I am thankful I got this opportunity to speak with them and felt better about my condition with the more information I have received.

5.0 star star star star starDr. VanHaerents is very knowledgeable about epilepsy in general and was well prepared for my initial visit. We went over all of the possible options to gain better control of my seizures, and he asked me how I felt about each of them. He was extremely thorough. I was particularly enthused about his desire to examine the records (EEG, MRI, etc.) himself rather than just rely on other neurologists' interpretation of these tests. As a scientist myself, I appreciated his need to "see the data" himself before drawing any conclusions Since my case is complex, he made sure to order all necessary post-visit tests: MRI, multi-day ambulatory EEG, neuropsychological exam, ECG, and blood work (lamotrigine, vitamin D, CBC [complete blood count] w/ differential, & CMP [comprehensive metabolic panel]. Most importantly, he listened to all of concerns and answered all of my questions.

5.0 star star star star starDr. VanHaerents was inquisitive, shared his knowledge and expertise and seemed genuinely interested in finding the cause of my condition and the appropriate treatment. After seeing 7 neurologists over a number of years his genuine interest in my condition was refreshing.

I look forward to every single appointment I have with Dr. VanHaerents—I look forward to seeing him again, catching up over lost time, and learning more about my condition. He has helped me in ways I cannot put into words. As my provider, he has provided me with security and assurance when all I felt was fear. Slowly but surely, with the support and suggestions of Dr. VanHaerents, my seizures are improving, and I’m getting my life back.

5.0 star star star star starDr. VanHaerants was great! He spent plenty of time with us asking questions and learning my history. He also taught us things that we haven't learned in the 13 years I've had seizures. He made up plans and I feel confident he will try his hardest to help! His nurse has also been on top of it all!!!

5.0 star star star star starBecause he is an excellent neurologist who has helped me as a patient and a person throughout the years. He is very knowledgeable. My family and friends are already aware of how confident I am in him.

5.0 star star star star starBecause Dr VanHaerents takes the time to listen, he is an excellent neurologist and I have dealt with many in the last 40 yrs. He explains things to me clearly and makes sure I have a copy of his notes before I leave which many MD's don't. People are confused sometimes when leaving a MD's office not quite sure what was said but if you are given the notes or have access to them it is important. This has been an extremely difficult year for me and without he and his nurse, Liz I don't know what I would have done without them.

5.0 star star star star starExperience of the doctors and variety of neuro specialty careI would give a 10 if there were more in the western suburbs but with online appointment it makes it easier to talk with your doctor without 3 hour travel time.

5.0 star star star star starI felt that the Neurologist and Assistant were very caring and compassionate - not to mention concerned - with the neurological condition that I have. The doctor also appeared determined to find the connection of what is causing the seizures that happen occasionally to me. Prevention of the seizures is his treatment plan for me.

5.0 star star star star starExcellent communicator, he takes the time to explain what his concerns & course of action is, as well as listening to what you feel is important or upsetting. He knows how to help the patient and guide them without upsetting them. His nurse, Liz has always been able to answer any question/email. Together I have more confidence and trust in them and during this pandemic it is so important for me as patient to have that superior guidance.

5.0 star star star star starOur appointment with Dr. VanHaerents was everything we were hoping in that he spent almost 90 minutes with us and put in motion a detailed plan to address my seizure issues and cognitive issues. He also provided an excellent After Visit Summary which has made follow up and scheduling easy with referrals, phone numbers and more. We would definitely recommend Dr. VanHaerents.

5.0 star star star star starHe is an excellent listener who pays attention to what his patient Is saying, shows concern, can guide you with his vast knowledge, even during this pandemic he was able to work with me through many many issues calmly and in a way that was reassuring to me. He made sure when I left I had a copy of the day's visit showing what his instructions and what we had talked about. Between he and his nurse, Liz they both have been what have helped during this pandemic because I live alone and I am 71 years old I had a seizure they immediately communicated with me, when I had oral surgery they communicated with my oral surgeon who was very impressed with them. I can't say enough about both of them. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to letting you know what a wonderful physician and nurse and team they are.
