I came in with an idea of where my therapy should start. And he basically said before we get to that point, let's back things up and get some diagnostics in place before we come to that point.

Dr. Vanhaerents was great. He spent time with me and my wife to answer all our questions. He was clear in his explanation and ordered more tests. His bedside manners were impeccable. I'd refer him in a minute

The doctor was very personable, patient, spoke to us at a level that was understandable and explanatory. His demeanor was very patient and reassuring. He took the time to explain to us the next several steps forward, and we came away with much confidence and reassurance in the recovery process.

Dr. VanHaerents listened to all of my concerns. He truly listened and addressed each and every concern. His bedside manner is amazing. He did not use terms that I wasn't sure of the meaning. He treated me like a person, rather than just a patient. He is amazing!!

I found Dr. Stephen Vanhaerents especially empathetic and meticulous in his examination, questions, and explanation and proposals for further treatment. He had clearly carefully reviewed my previous medical records, which I had forwarded to Northwestern Medicine. He gave me a clear timetable of instructions to follow. Altogether a congenial education in what otherwise may have seemed overwhelming to absorb.

External Professional Relationships

Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
