The Northwestern Medicine Comprehensive Headache Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital offers comprehensive care for both chronic and acute migraines and headaches. Your multidisciplinary team includes board-certified neurologists, pharmacologists, neuropsychologists, and a team of integrative providers dedicated to the treatment of headaches and migraines.

The Northwestern Medicine Comprehensive Headache Center is a multidisciplinary center that uses a collaborative approach to treatment and is experienced in the care of complex or difficult-to-treat headache conditions.

Whether you are experiencing your first migraine, or have ongoing headaches and migraines with a history of unsuccessful treatments, our goal is to help you manage your symptoms and improve your quality of life.

Care for Chronic and Acute Headaches

Note: To schedule an urgent appointment with the Comprehensive Headache Center, you must have an established headache diagnosis with a Northwestern Medicine neurologist.

If you have not seen a Northwestern Medicine neurologist, please call 312.695.7950 to establish care.

Intake Process

The Comprehensive Headache Center triage clinic team can be reached by calling 312.695.7950 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

The clinic team will assess current clinic capacity and initiate a brief triage discussion to determine the appropriate care setting.

The last urgent appointment of the day will be scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to allow for adequate time for assessment and treatment. We strongly recommend calling before noon (12:00 p.m.) to schedule an urgent same/next day appointment.

The Comprehensive Headache Center is not:

• A walk-in clinic

• A substitute for the Emergency Department

• Suitable for every patient with headache/migraine

The Northwestern Medicine Comprehensive Headache Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital offers patients comprehensive evaluation by a board-certified neurologist specializing in headaches.

We offer priority appointments for migraine emergencies, and same/next day infusion for management of acute headache/migraine. The Center also offers a full-service infusion center with comfortable, private rooms, including: TVs, heated blankets and reclining chairs in each room.
