Diagnoses and treatment

Northwestern Medicine offers a wide range of diagnostic testing or surgical services for pediatric urology conditions. These services include:

  • Complex urinary tract/genital reconstruction
  • Endoscopy
  • Laparoscopic surgery

Whenever possible, the urologists use minimally invasive surgical techniques, minimizing scarring, reducing pain and shortening recovery time. The services your child receives are provided in comfortable settings designed especially for children and families.

Multidisciplinary team approach

The medical professionals on the pediatric urology team provide your child with dedicated and compassionate care in a setting targeted to the needs of children and their families. The multidisciplinary team3 includes:

  • Lurie Children's specialists, board-certified in urology with additional training in pediatric urology
  • Additional Lurie Children's specialists including pediatric nephrologists, pediatric oncologists, neonatologists and others as needed
  • Registered nurses
  • Child life specialists

In addition, the CDH Pediatric Emergency Department is IDPH Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) and is designated by the State of Illinois as a Level II Trauma Center.
