5.0 star star star star starAlicia was terrific. I saw her four times for arthritis and carpal tunnel pain in my hands. Alicia took measurements of my movement, tested my movement, and inquired about behavior/habits that aggravated the pain. She prescribed a number of exercises during each visit and made a few changes to the regimen she prescribed. She suggested several changes to my home activities -- changes that have definitely helped lessen pain. I am able to manage the pain in my hands and wrists, and I am grateful for Alicia's care

5.0 star star star star starAlicia has a pleasant, friendly manner, and a natural empathy that is amplified by her training and experience. At my first visit, Alicia took a lot of measurements and asked a lot of questions about my arthritis and the carpal tunnel pain in my right hand and wrist. She prescribed four exercises -- a median nerve glide, wrist prayer stretch, a wrist flex exercise, and knuckle stretch -- that I was to do at home, with five reps per day. I did these religiously and was amazed how they helped reduce the pain in my hands. While the pain persists, it is greatly diminished. In subsequent visits, Alicia gave me additional exercises -- finger exercises, a dart thrower exercise, putty squeezes, and a seated dumbbell wrist lift -- explaining and demonstrating each one thoroughly. These, too, have helped but not so dramatically as the first set of four. I am grateful that Alicia has shown me how to manage my arthritis and carpal tunnel pain through exercise rather than injections or surgery.

5.0 star star star star starI can't praise Alicia Sandoval enough. This was my first visit to OT and Ms. Sandoval took measurements of my hands and wrists to establish a baseline (my word). She explained things clearly and walked me through a number of exercises to do at home. She was empathetic and understanding.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
