5.0 star star star star starHe actually cared about my issues and gave me some temporary relief until further testing will be done. He actually wants to get to the bottom of the issue instead of just increasing medication like other doctors I’ve seen. Very thankful and happy to have him as my neurologist now and hopefully forever!

5.0 star star star star starHe made sure he answered all my questions. He asked me multiple times if had questions and if I understood what he told me. He made sure to have my prescriptions refilled. He gave me confidence.

5.0 star star star star starHe took over my care and took the time listen to my issues. It’s one step at a time. He came up with a plan to help get me back to a normal life. Easy to talk to and work with. He’s earned my trust.

5.0 star star star star starWe can’t say enough good things about Dr. Macken. He is the kindest most caring doctor. He always listens to what my father is going through. And he has helped us get his seizures under control. We really appreciate him and all of his hard work.

5.0 star star star star starI started with him when he was at Loyola he impressed me from the very first visit. He had discussed my condition with the surgeon who referred me at great detail and sought out other doctors to help with a solution. He has worked diligently with me on several medical issues. When something doesn't work he moves on to the next idea. He sent me to another neurologist to see if he missed anything. I went from having migraine 25 days out of 30 to one every month and eventually one every 3 months.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Macken is always friendly and interacts with my special needs son, engaging him so he feels a part of the decision making process. He explains things so a lay person can understand and does not talk down to you. We never feel rushed and are able to get all our questions answered.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Macken is incredibly kind and patient. He takes the time to answer questions and never makes you feel as though you are a bother. Skill/knowledge is obviously important, but Dr. Macken demonstrates empathy - in a genuine and authentic way. This is what differentiates him from other neurologists whom I’ve seen in the past.

5.0 star star star star starSo grateful to continue to finally see Dr. Macken without traveling from CL to downtown Chicago. I have been seizure free for over 17 Years because of Dr. Macken’s professional, understanding care. I still have questions, and he is able to answer them all, making me feel more confident.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg. To learn more about our Disclosure and Professional Integrity Policy, and the conflict of interest policies of our joint affiliate survey partners, please go to our Office for Regulatory Affairs Policies page.
