5.0 star star star star starDr. Pyka was extremely thorough and took time to explain every aspect of recommended tests, treatments, and care. He listened and put me at ease as a first time cardiology patient. I truly appreciate his care and concern for my heart health.

4.0 star star star star star_borderI appreciate that there's a mechanism in place to get follow-up appointments scheduled around the time they're supposed to be scheduled. Otherwise, he'd be completely booked all the time and we could never get an appointment. I also appreciate that unlike many of his colleagues, he's willing to be flexible about the guidelines for managing the risks to heart health. In my father's case (the patient), he had serious adverse effects after being pressured into taking statins at high doses by cardiologists citing "the guidelines." Dr. Pyka has been understanding of this and looked for other solutions.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
