5.0 star star star star starThis physician is at the "ten" level for not only his professional expertise but for his understanding of his patient's need for positivity on the part of his urologist. In addition, he successfully minimize the discomfort associated with prostate examinations. In addition, not unexpectedly, he is familiar not only with the patient's urology record but that with other NMH physicians care provision, i.e. he views the patient in a wholistic faction rather than only that of their sociality.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Amarasekera was great to work with. Extremely professional but friendly, explained things so I actually understood them, gave options and explained the pros/cons of each, and never made me feel pressured to make a decision right away. I'm looking forward to continuing seeing him for treatment. Overall I felt like he was listening to me and my concerns and took them into consideration when discussing treatment options

5.0 star star star star starHe was extremely professional, outlined what tact he felt best suited my medical needs, he was approachable to a point where every question was answerable and he put me right at ease. I will recommend him to anybody I know needing his medical expertise.

5.0 star star star star starI highly recommend Dr. Amarasekera for anyone seeking urological care for the following reasons: 1) Communication skills _ Outstanding medical care can only occur with exceptional communication skills. Dr. Amarasekera actively listens so that he can engage you in a comfortable conversation to identify your symptoms so that he can suggest a plan of action. I never feel like the clock is ticking when I meet with him. 2) Current skills _ Dr. Amarasekera keeps current in his field. As medicine is a fast evolving field, it is important that your doctor keeps current with the latest medical procedures. When you talk with Dr. Amarasekera he discusses options (diagnostic and surgical) that are based on current experiences and the latest literature (not a 20-year old medical text book). 3) Patient education _ It's important to me to know more when I leave my doctor's office than when I arrive. Dr. Amarasekera is a good patient educator, and I learn by talking with him. Therefore, I recommend Dr. Amarasekera If you are looking for a urologist who combines knowledge with a conscience concern for your well-being.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Amarasekera and his PA, Zeb, were very conscientious about my care both physically and mentally. They really put me at ease and patiently explained my condition and treatment as well answered all questions I had in a way I could understand.

5.0 star star star star starFor example, Dr. Amarasekera promptly reviewed lab results & pro-actively ordered related test(s) from the same blood draw, providing context through MyChart for above-normal levels that would have otherwise been alarming.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Amarasekera is a terrific doctor! He is very easy to talk to, asks good questions and he listens. He will remember things we spoke about 12 months ago. He always takes the time to explain complex things in terms which are easy to understand. I appreciate the time he takes with me and never feel as if he is in hurry to move on to his next patient.

5.0 star star star star starI was looking for a group and doctor who is more resoureful and have more 'tricks in the bag' (I mean methods and approaches) to suggest treatment alternatives for my moderate urge incontinence issue for 15 years when the urologists I saw during that time do not seem to have much to offer. Dr. Amarasekera did introduce me to new treatment ideas and knowledge; and the NM process on the other hand, from this first exposure, has been refreshing and good so far.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
